The Listowel Cyclones are a Canadian junior hockey team based in Listowel, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Mid-Western division of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Brantford Scores 5 In 3rd To Take 8-3 Victory

On Saturday, February 18th/ 2012 in Game #48, the Cyclones fought hard for 60 minutes but could not match Brantford in an 8 -3 loss.

 

WinterHawks Skate to 8-2 Win Over Cyclones

On Friday, February 17th/ 2012 in Game #47, the Cyclones tangled with the Cambridge Winterhawks and at the end of 60 minutes the visitors emerged with an 8 – 2 win.

 

WinterHawks Shut-out Cyclones 4-0

On Saturday, February 11th/ 2012 in Game #46, the Cyclones were shut out at Galt Arena Gardens in Cambridge as the home side Winterhawks 4 scored times and by doing so, clinched 4th place in the Midwest Division of the GOJHL.

 

Hurricanes Win 9-5 In Listowel

On Friday, February 10th/ 2012 in Game #45, the Cyclones scored 5 times on the 50 shots that were aimed at Colin Furlong in the Guelph Hurricanes net. This season, such an effort would ordinarily translate into a win for the Men in Black. In this game it was not enough as Guelph scored 9 times on 36 shots at 15 year old rookie net minder Daniel Dekoning en route to a 9-5 win at Memorial Arena.

 

Cullitons Earn 8-2 Win in Listowel

On this day, the Cyclones didn't have enough to get the job done against a powerful Cullitons team. The Cyclones did have a lead of 2-1 after the first period but after 3, it was 8-2 for Stratford.

Cyclonic Team Effort With 7-0 Win Over Siskins

On Friday, February 3rd / 2012 in Game #43, the Cyclones demolished Waterloo by a 7 – 0 score and by doing so they grabbed sole possession of 6th place in the GOJHL Midwest Division.

 

Winterhawks Squeak By Cyclones 3-2

On Saturday, January 28th / 2012 in Game #42, the Cyclones battled the 4th place Cambridge Winterhawks at the Galt Arena Gardens on Shade Street. Both the Cyclones and the Winterhawks have had a storied playoff rivalry in recent seasons and this Arena and its patrons have borne witness to some intense, hardnosed and at times….wild and crazy hockey. This game was cut from the very same fabric of the cloth of that tradition.

 

Cyclones Battle Hard in 8-4 Loss to SugarKings

On Friday, January 27th / 2012 in Game #41, the Cyclones battled the defending 2011 Sutherland Cup Champions but in the end their Highway #86 rivals put forth just too much of everything in a 8 – 4 decision over the Red, White and Black. One power play goal in 3 tries and 2 shorthanded goals were used to propel Elmira to the win but give the Cyclones credit for battling back from a 5-1 deficit to creep within 1 goal at 6:07 of the 3rd period.

 

Cullitons Edge Cyclones 4-3

On Sunday, January 22nd / 2012 in Game #40, the Cyclones battled hard for 60 minutes but fell one goal short in a 4-3 decision against the Cullitons. It was another decent effort on home ice by the Men In Black but the Hockey Gods did not have a better fate in store for the home side.

 

Cullitons Win 5-1 Over Cyclones

On Friday, January 20th / 2012 the Cyclones were bowled over by the Cullitons by a 5-1 score. The Cyclones matched their opponents stride for stride in the opening 20 minutes but the short bench of the Cyclones was a distinct disadvantage.

 

SugarKings Over Cyclones By 6-3 Score

On Sunday, January 15th / 2012 the Cyclones were feeling a little green after another Highway 86 battle inside the Dan Snyder Memorial Arena in Elmira. The defending Sutherland Cup Champs, freshly remodeled with fair weather friends at the trade deadline, pumped 56 shots on goal and bagged 5 power play goals in 9 chances en route to a 6-3 win.

 

Cyclones Skate to 8-3 Win Over Owen Sound

On Friday, January 13th / 2012 there was absolutely no hex on the Cyclones as they pasted the Owen Sound Greys by a lopsided 8 – 3 score. The Cyclones held leads of 3 - 1 after 20 minutes and 5-2 after 40 minutes before erupting for 3 goals in 61 seconds early in the 3rd period to put this contest out of reach.

While rumours have been floating around for some time now, the deals are now completed. The Cyclones are thrilled to announce that Craig Johnson has come to us from Elmira and Colten Picket from St. Mary's

 

Tough Start to 2012 With 7-2 Loss to Dutchmen

Happy New Year Cyclones Hockey Fans!!! On Friday, January 6th / 2012 the Cyclones hit the ice to resume the 2012 portion of their regular season. Visiting Memorial Arena was the 8th place the Kitchener Dutchmen. After 60 minutes the Cyclones were on the short end of a 7 -2 score.

 

Cyclones Win 2-1 Over Cullitons

On Friday, December 23rd / 2011 the Cyclones exacted some redemption and a small measure of revenge against the Cullitons by defeating their Perth County rivals by a 2-1 score.

 

Cyclones Win Big With 8-1 Score Over Siskins

On Sunday, December 18th/2011, the Cyclones regrouped from a tough loss on Friday and skated to an 8-1 Win over the Siskins. This was a team effort and with the effort came the goals.

 

Cyclones Lose 6-1 To Golden Eagles

On Friday, December 16th/2011 the visiting Golden Eagles scored 2 goals in each period to take home a 6-1 Win.

 

Cullitons Dominate Cycs With 9-1 Win

On Sunday, December 11th / 2011 the Cyclones played a decent opening 20 minutes of hockey against the 1st place Cullitons, scoring first with a Blake Thompson power play goal at 10:55 – assisted by Brett Catto and Jeff Bauer. It was a text book play on how to win an offensive zone faceoff, gain control of the puck and execute the scoring play from inside the blueline. After 20 minutes the game was tied 1-1and the host team held a 20-16 shots on goal advantage. Over the final 40 minutes of play the Cyclones were bombarded with 8 goals on 40 shots and lost by a 9-1 score.

 

Hurricanes Take 5-4 Win Over Cyclones

On Saturday, December 10th / 2011 the Cyclones staked themselves to a 4-1 lead at the 13:50 mark of the 2nd period but a short bench and some inopportune penalties set the stage for a 4 goal comeback surge by the host Guelph Hurricanes squad. A strong 4 for 7 power play effort was offset by 3 for 10 power play effort by the Hurricanes who managed 31 shots on goal at Talon D’Orazio. The Cyclones made the most of their 27 shots on goal but could not keep a lid on the opposition scoring to preserve the win.

 

Siskins Edge Cyclones 4-3

On Friday, December 9th / 2011 the Cyclones fell behind early in the 1st period by a 2-0 count and did not recover as they dropped a 4-3 decision to the Waterloo Siskins.

 

Cyclones 5-4 Victors Over Dutchmen

On Sunday, December 4th / 2011 the Cyclones made it a 2 for 2 winning weekend, defeating Kitchener by a 5-4 score on the expansive and frosty surfaces of the Kinsmen Arena in Kitchener.

 

Cyclones Earn 6-4 Win Over SugarKings

On Friday, December 2nd / 2011 the Cyclones started the new month right by putting their best skate forward and defeating Highway 86 rivals Elmira by a 6 – 4 score. It was another entertaining match between these long time rivals – each team scored twice on the power play (the home side was 2 for 11, the visitors 2 for 5) and each team tallied once while shorthanded.

 

Cyclones Win 5-3 Over Grey's

On Sunday, November 27th / 2011 the Cyclones travelled north along Highway 6 to Owen Sound for a match against the Greys at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Arena. After 60 minutes of play the Cyclones emerged victorious by a 5 – 3 score.

 

Cyclones Battle Hard But Come Up Short In 2-1 Loss to Brantford

On Saturday, November 26th / 2011 the Cyclones travelled south to Brantford to take on the Golden Eagles where the home side emerged with a slim 2-1 victory.

 

Cyclones Back in The Win Column With 4-0 Win Over Cambridge

Wow!! To quote the infamous lyrics of singer /songwriter George Thorogood “You should have heard just what I seen” On Friday, November 25th / 2011 the Cyclones got the upper hand on the Cambridge Winterhawks by a score of 4 – 0; as the on ice officials lowered the boom on Cambridge, assessing them with 84 minutes of penalties including the game ejection of 4 players for foul play as well as the ejection of the Cambridge coach early in the 3rd period.

 

Canadians Over Cyclones 4-2

On Sunday, November 20th / 2011 the Cyclones battled hard for 60 minutes against the Welland Junior Canadians but fell short by a 4-2 score.

 

Sarnia Skates to 9-3 Win Over Cyclones

On Friday, November 18th / 2011 the Cyclones were crushed 9 – 3 by the Sarnia Legionnaires in an interlocking Conference game at Memorial Arena.

Brantford Win 5-3 Over Cyclones

On Friday, November 11th / 2011 the Cyclones squared off against the 3rd place Brantford Golden Eagles. After a hard fought 60 minute contest it was the visiting squad who emerged victorious with a 5 – 3 win.
